Duties and Responsibilities include:
Performs all of the duties and responsibilities assigned to the speech-language pathology facilitator in an educational setting.
 
Direct Intervention:
- Carry out treatment programs, document results and develop materials for use with patients between 3 and 8 years old, under supervision of speech language pathologist
- Assist speech-language pathologists during assessment of patients
- Document patient rehabilitation progress
- Check and maintain therapeutic equipment and materials
- Collaborate with classroom teams for parent education and coaching
- Assist in developing Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and/or Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with classroom teams and speech-language pathologists
- Assist in the development of care plans as required
- Maintain robust data collection and intervention information for measuring outcomes for IFSP/IEP goals, document outcome measure results, participating in educational rounds, and tracking various funding models
 
Additional Responsibilities:
 
- ·         Help to establish and maintain standards of student behaviour needed to achieve a safe, orderly and productive therapy environment that fosters positive attitudes, and a positive self image
- ·         Provide an attractive and orderly room environment that reflects the current learning focus of the school
- ·         Participate in weekly staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- ·         Prepare for, and participate in case conferences
- ·         Serve as a resource person for speech and language services as needed throughout CHSC
- ·         Participate in organizational functions such as fundraisers, open houses, Centre events, etc.
- Positively represent and be an ambassador for Children’s Hearing and Speech Centre of BC
 
REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:
 
- Completion of a three- to four-year college program in speech and language therapy or a related program
- Two years of experience in speech-language therapy and assessment
- Previous experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Some experience in the education setting is preferred
