CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR (NOC 22303 – TEER 2)

About the Role

Buxton & Dawe is seeking a Construction Estimator to support commercial and industrial construction projects. The successful candidate will assist with cost estimating, procurement, scheduling, and project documentation while working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Key Duties

• Prepare and update detailed construction cost estimates, budgets, and procurement breakdowns for materials, labour, and equipment.
• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to perform quantity take-offs and assess cost and scope impacts.
• Utilize AutoCAD and electronic drawings to review project layouts and verify quantities.
• Obtain, review, and analyze quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing information.
• Prepare cost forecasts, expenditure projections, and assist in overall budget planning.
• Establish and maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems, including tracking project performance against budgets.
• Utilize project management software such as BuildOps to support cost tracking, scheduling updates, and documentation management.
• Prepare and track change orders, cost adjustments, and contract modifications.
• Assist in coordinating project schedules, RFIs, submittals, and communication between project stakeholders.
• Support monthly progress billings and contribute to project close-out documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field,
  OR equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in construction estimating or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction software such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam; experience with project management software is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
