Full-Time OCT Certified Senior Biology & Biochemistry Teacher (Grade 11–12 + Cambridge A Level/IGCSE)

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified, OCT-certified Senior Biology/Biochemistry teacher for full-time in-person instruction at our Ontario campus.

This role focuses on:

  • Grade 11 & Grade 12 Biology (OSSD curriculum)
  • Senior-level Biochemistry instruction
  • Cambridge IGCSE Biology
  • Cambridge AS & A Level Biology/Biochemistry preparation and examination training
  • This position is ideal for experienced educators who:
  • Can independently design and build course content
  • Are confident managing inspection-compliant documentation
  • Have experience in both Ontario and international (Cambridge) curriculum systems

 

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Contract Term: 3-Year Contract
  • Hourly Rate: $52/hour
  • Workload: 30 hours per week
  • Teaching Mode: In-person
  • Location: Ontario (North York campus)

 

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Ontario Curriculum (OSSD)
  • Teach Grade 11 & 12 Biology courses in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum
  • Independently design:
  • Course outlines
  • Unit plans
  • Lesson plans
  • Assessments and final exams
  • Laboratory experiments and practical evaluations

Create and manage:

  • Tests and quizzes
  • Lab reports and experimental design assessments
  • Final evaluations

Maintain accurate grading and academic records

Cambridge Curriculum

  • Deliver Cambridge IGCSE Biology courses
  • Deliver Cambridge AS & A Level Biology/Biochemistry courses
  • Prepare students for Cambridge examinations
  • Provide exam-focused training and structured review
  • Ensure alignment with Cambridge syllabus standards and assessment objectives

 

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience (Senior high school level preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Grade 11–12 Biology
  • Experience designing lab-based science curriculum
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Curriculum (Biology, SBI3U/SBI4U)
  • Experience with Cambridge IGCSE and/or AS & A Level Biology (strong asset; direct teaching experience preferred)
  • Ability to independently build and manage a complete course

Inspection & Documentation Expectations

Teachers must maintain inspection-ready documentation at all times in compliance with Ontario Ministry of Education requirements.

This includes:

  • Course outlines and long-range plans
  • Detailed unit plans
  • Daily lesson plans

A complete classroom binder containing:

  • Teaching materials
  • Student work samples
  • Assessment records
  • Assessment evidence:
  • Tests
  • Assignments
  • Rubrics
  • Observations
  • Final evaluations
  • Attendance tracking
  • Student achievement documentation

Please note: Ministry inspections focus on institutional OSSD compliance standards.

 

Compensation

  • $52 per hour
  • 30 hours per week
