Job Title: Construction Helper 

Terms of Employment: 30-40 hours per week, Full-time/ Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

Wage: $25.00-$27.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Job Duties:

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
• Mix, pour and spread or apply materials such as plaster, grout, concrete, cement, paint etc.
• Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, tile settlers, painters, etc

• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment

• Tend to or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors, and pumps
• Assist in demolishing walls, wood/metal frames and other areas using prying bars and other tools
• Sort and pile salvaged materials and ensure materials a separated appropriately to clean up and either be recycled or for the waste
• Maintain tools and equipment and coordinate with supervisor if replacement or service required.
• Operate various hand tools such as siding shears, gauges, trim cutters, removal tools, power nails, drills, etc, as directed.
• Perform other duties assigned by project Managers/Site Superintendents.
• Report any concerns and all injuries, incidents or unsafe working conditions to their direct supervisor or safety representative as soon as possible.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education: No Formal Education required.

Experience: No Experience required.

***Experience working on construction sites would be considered an asset.

Language: Basic English is required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, handling heavy loads, requires lifting, pulling, and carrying of equipment and other objects, standing for long period of time.

Personal Suitability:

• Ability to work in confined spaces, as well as high height levels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to be mobile and willing to travel to various job sites within Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.
