Education required    :    Diploma in business management.

Experience required  :    One year in managing, restaurants, resorts, hotels, motels or any food service business.

Salary                              :    $38.00 per hour

Location                         :    850 McKeown Ave., Bldg C, North Bay, ON P1B 8M1

Job Type                          :    Full-time

Hours                              :    35 to 44 hours per week

Supplemental Pay       :    Overtime pay after 44 hours per week

We are 2579921 Ontario Inc. operating as “Syl’s Neighboorhood Kitchen”. We are a fully licensed, family restaurant in North Bay, Ontario since December 18, 2017. Syl works the kitchen and Becky manages the house to offer high quality food at an affordable price. Patrons enjoy a cocktail on the beautiful patio or sink into the comfortable seats indoors as they eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Syl’s supports large groups, catering, and online ordering for take-out or delivery.

 

We are looking for a Restaurant Manager who can handle following responsibilities:

 

  • Will manage the overall daily operations of Syl's Neighborhood Kitchen, ensuring guests receive friendly, efficient, and high-quality service in a welcoming family-oriented dining environment.
  • Will oversee both front-of-house and kitchen operations to ensure smooth coordination between service staff and kitchen personnel during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
  • Will recruit, hire, train, and supervise servers, cooks, kitchen helpers, and support staff, fostering a positive team culture and maintaining high performance standards.
  • Will prepare weekly staff schedules, assign duties, monitor attendance, and ensure appropriate staffing levels during busy periods, weekends, and special events.
  • Will provide hands-on leadership during service hours, assisting staff as needed to maintain excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Will build strong relationships with regular customers, address guest concerns professionally, and ensure customer satisfaction to encourage repeat business and a positive community reputation.
  • Will work closely with the kitchen team to maintain food quality, portion consistency, presentation standards, and timely order preparation.
  • Will assist in planning and updating menu items, seasonal specials, and promotional offerings based on customer preferences and sales trends.
  • Will monitor daily sales performance, labour costs, food costs, and operating expenses to ensure the restaurant meets financial and profitability objectives.
  • Will order food products, beverages, cleaning supplies, and restaurant materials from approved suppliers while maintaining adequate inventory levels and controlling waste.
  • Will conduct regular inventory counts and track stock usage to minimize shortages and reduce unnecessary costs.
  • Will maintain relationships with local suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent product quality, competitive pricing, and timely deliveries.
  • Will ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Will perform regular inspections of dining areas, kitchen facilities, storage rooms, and equipment to maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.
  • Will manage cash handling procedures, reconcile daily sales reports, approve invoices, and coordinate banking deposits when required.
  • Will organize and coordinate catering orders, community events, family gatherings, and group reservations hosted by the restaurant.
  • Will assist in developing local marketing initiatives, customer appreciation programs, and social media promotions to increase customer traffic and strengthen the restaurant's presence within the community.
  • Will maintain accurate records related to staffing, inventory, sales performance, supplier purchases, and operational activities.
  • Will work directly with ownership to implement business improvements, enhance customer experiences, and support the continued growth and success of the restaurant.
  • Will ensure that all restaurant operations reflect the warm, neighbourhood-focused atmosphere and service values for which Syl's Neighborhood Kitchen is known.
