Job Duties:
- Maintains accurate financial records for the company using computerized accounting software and bookkeeping systems.
- Records daily business transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, invoices, and business expenses.
- Posts journal entries and ensures all financial transactions are entered under the correct accounts.
- Reconciles bank accounts, credit card statements, vendor accounts, and customer accounts on a regular basis.
- Maintains and updates the general ledger to ensure accounting records remain accurate and balanced.
- Prepares trial balances and assists in preparing financial statements, summaries, and periodic accounting reports.
- Calculates and prepares payroll, employee deductions, vacation pay, and related payroll records.
- Prepares payments for suppliers, utilities, taxes, payroll obligations, and other business expenses.
- Prepares and submits GST/HST, payroll remittance, workers’ compensation, and other government reporting forms as required.
- Monitors accounts payable and accounts receivable and follows up on outstanding invoices or unpaid balances.
- Organizes and maintains accounting files, receipts, invoices, payroll records, and supporting financial documents for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assists the accountant or management with year-end financial records, tax preparation, and bookkeeping reports.
