Position: Nanny
We are seeking a warm, experienced, and dedicated Nanny to care for our 6-month-old infant in a private household setting. The successful candidate will provide attentive and nurturing care while ensuring the child’s safety, well-being, and healthy development at all times. This role involves supporting the infant’s daily routines, including feeding, nap schedules, hygiene, and age-appropriate developmental activities that encourage cognitive, physical, emotional, and social growth. The ideal candidate will be reliable, patient, organized, and proactive, with a strong understanding of infant care, child safety, and developmental milestones. In addition to childcare responsibilities, the candidate will assist with light household duties directly related to the child’s care and work collaboratively with the family to maintain a positive, safe, and stimulating environment that supports the child’s overall development and well-being.
Job duties:
- Provide attentive and nurturing care for a 6-month-old infant in a private household setting.
- Supervise and ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and engage the child in age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
- Prepare and feed bottles, introduce and serve solid foods according to parental instructions, and maintain feeding schedules.
- Establish and maintain consistent daily routines, including nap schedules and developmental activities.
- Take the child on daily walks and supervise outdoor activities to encourage healthy development and physical activity.
- Attend to the child’s personal needs, including diaper changes, dressing, and maintaining proper hygiene.
- Observe and report any changes in the child’s health, behavior, or developmental milestones to the parents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for the child, including sanitizing bottles, toys, and childcare equipment.
- Perform light housekeeping duties directly related to the child’s care, including washing the child’s laundry, tidying play areas and toys, cleaning up after meals, and unloading/loading the dishwasher as needed.
- Follow parental instructions regarding childcare practices, routines, nutrition, and safety requirements.
- Foster a warm, supportive, and stimulating environment that promotes the child’s overall growth and development.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of paid experience providing childcare in a professional caregiving setting, including at least one (1) year of experience caring for infants under 12 months of age.
- Previous experience with household management and maintaining an organized home environment is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and child safety.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure effective communication with family members and healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Ability to provide strong professional references from previous employers/families.
- Non-smoker.
- Valid Infant and Child First Aid and CPR certification is required.
- Confidence in administering an EpiPen when required (instructions from parents will be provided)
- Reliable, dependable, and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety concerns within the home and childcare environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and family members.
- Warm, nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for supporting children's growth and development.
- Creative and engaging in planning age-appropriate activities that promote learning, development, and well-being.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a multi-generational family environment, demonstrating flexibility and strong teamwork skills.
Job Details:
- Job Type: Full-time, permanent
- Language of Work: English
- Wage: $32 per hour
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Schedule: 10 hours per day, Tuesday to Friday, with some early mornings and weekends as required.
