Palma Pasta is a family-owned Italian food manufacturer in Mississauga, operating since 1985. The company produces fresh pasta, sauces, prepared entrées, and catering products, with meat prepared in-house as an integral part of its food manufacturing process.

We are looking for a Butcher to join our team and support our growing food production operations while maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect.

 

Job Duties: 

 

  • Cut, trim, debone, and prepare standard cuts of beef, veal, poultry, and lamb for use in the company's food production.

  • Portion meat according to company recipes, production specifications, and quality standards.

  • Prepare meat according to company recipes and production requirements for use in prepared food products.

  • Operate knives, meat saws, grinders, slicers, and other butchery equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Prepare specialty meat products according to company recipes and production requirements.

  • Inspect meat products for quality and freshness before processing.

  • Weigh, package, label, and store meat products following company procedures.

  • Monitor inventory and rotate meat stock using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in compliance with HACCP, CFIA, and company food safety standards.

  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming meat deliveries.



Requirements:  

 

  • Secondary school completion preferred.

  • Minimum 7 months of experience in meat cutting, butchery, meat processing, or related food production, or completion of a recognized butcher training program is required.

  • Basic knowledge of meat cutting, trimming, deboning, knife handling, and the safe operation of butchery equipment is required.

  • On-the-job training will be provided to enhance existing skills and ensure compliance with company procedures, HACCP, food safety, and sanitation standards.

  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) while working in a refrigerated, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality and hygiene standards, and flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
