Founded in 1958 by Gerhard and Ida Brandt, Brandt Meats is a Canadian, family-owned meat processing company with more than 65 years of experience. The company specializes in artisan-quality deli meats, sausages, salami, smoked meats and other meat products made in the European tradition using time-tested recipes and modern processing practices. 

Currently, we are looking for an Industrial Butcher to join our team. 

 

Job duties:

  • Debone, cut, and trim beef and pork, removing excess fat, cartilage, connective tissue, and other unwanted portions.

  • Remove bones, excess fat, cartilage, connective tissue, and other unwanted portions from meat.

  • Break down and portion meat into specific cuts according to production specifications.

  • Prepare meat portions for further processing into deli meats, sausages, and other Brandt products.

  • Operate knives, band saws, and other meat-cutting equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Inspect meat to ensure product quality and minimize waste during processing.

  • Handle and store meat safely in refrigerated production areas.

  • Clean and sanitize knives, equipment, workstations, and production areas.

  • Follow HACCP, CFIA, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 months of experience in meat processing, butchery, or a related meat production environment is required.

  • Basic knowledge of meat handling, deboning, cutting, and trimming, with the ability to safely use knives and other meat-processing tools.

  • On-the-job training will be provided to enhance existing skills and familiarize employees with company-specific procedures and standards.

  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, bend, handle materials manually, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

  • Comfortable working in a refrigerated, fast-paced meat-processing environment.

  • Strong attention to product quality, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety.

  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, based on the company's operational needs.
