Job Description

  • Prepare and cook traditional African dishes such as soups, stews, rice dishes, grilled meats, and specialty meals
  • Plan menus and ensure authentic African recipes and flavors are maintained
  • Prepare ingredients (wash, peel, chop vegetables, season meats, and measure spices)
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, taste, and presentation
  • Ensure meals are cooked according to customer orders and restaurant standards
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely (grills, fryers, ovens, stoves, mixers)
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Check inventory and inform management of food and ingredient shortages
  • Store food properly and follow Canadian food safety regulations
  • Assist in training kitchen helpers or assistant cooks when needed
  • Manage portion control and reduce food waste
  • Ensure timely preparation during busy service periods
  • Follow health and safety standards set by local public health authorities in Canada
