REIC Rentals is a rental company providing specialized equipment rental solutions to the construction, commercial and industrial sectors. We maintain an extensive fleet of small rental equipment, including portable stand-alone heaters, dehumidifiers, ventilation and climate-control units, generators, transformers, lighting systems, pumps, compact aerial and material-handling equipment, welding equipment, concrete equipment and general construction tools.

This position is responsible for supervising the inspection, maintenance and repair of our regional small-equipment rental fleet, while providing technical guidance, mentorship and training to our service technicians. The role focuses on portable rental equipment and is not an HVAC, automotive or heavy-duty equipment mechanic position.

Job Location

  • Based at 2601 Belisle Drive, Val Caron, ON, P3N 0A7
  • With travel to Brantford location (118 Easton Road, Brantford, ON, N3P 1J5)
  • Travel to various locations in the Northeast Ontario region
  • Travel expenses covered by employer

Wage: $40.00/hour, salary increases based on performance per company policy, bonus plan, RRSP

Job requirements:

Language: English

Education/experience:

  • 2-yearAssociate’s degree or equivalent from a college or technical school; or
  • six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional: Must be able and willing to obtain a valid driver's license before commencing employment (and have a clean driving record). Criminal Record check and Drug Test required.  Steel-toed safety boots required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs), Standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, Manual dexterity, Good visual sight and hearing, Work under pressure, Fast-paced environment, Tight Deadlines, attention to detail, Physically demanding. Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Ability to Supervise: 5-10 Technicians (Small Equipment Repairers)

Work site environment: Outdoors; work in various environmental conditions, including hot and cold, wet/damp conditions, Noisy Conditions, and at heights.

Duties:

Technical Leadership and Quality Control:

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for all shop operations, including troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics and technical manuals to perform equipment repairs, maintenance, and modifications
  • Review and approve all rental equipment configurations before field deployment
  • Conduct pre-deployment briefings with field service technicians to review installation designs, technical requirements, and safety considerations
  • Ensure all equipment meets quality standards and safety requirements before leaving the facility

Deployment Planning and Coordination:

  • Review project requirements, develop equipment configuration plans and maintain inventory
  • Coordinate with field service technicians to confirm design specifications and installation requirements
  • Verify all necessary components, tools, and materials are available and properly prepared for each deployment
  • Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections prior to deployment
  • Ensure Workplace Safety Practices are adhered to (e.g. PPE requirements, lockout/tagout, equipment inspections and safe work procedures)

Inventory and Resource Management:

  • Manage shop inventory levels, including equipment, parts, tools, and supplies
  • Coordinate purchasing via Service Manager to maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Track and document equipment status, maintenance records, service records, and repair histories
  • Oversee proper storage and organization of all shop materials and equipment

Employee Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and priorities to other employees assigned to the area and supervise as required.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend personnel actions.
  • Monitor work quality and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • When required, train and mentor existing and new employees on equipment and shop processes.
